Transparency

Don’t use your social media as an advert.

Nine posts in and I have already learnt so much. My content on Instagram has focused on the use of bold, statement-style titles that capture attention. Designed to stand out both individually on the feed and collectively across my profile.

These first posts also gave me the opportunity to introduce my four pillars of content in a way that felt natural. Whilst posting my four pillars of content I slowly introduced who I am as a person with full transparency into what I am trying to achieve (creating my portfolio).

When managing a brand account, the goal of promoting a product or service is already understood so transparency in your posts does not have to be so obvious. In fact, taking a less obvious approach to promotion may lead to more success when using your social media as an advertisement platform. Consumers of your posts are conditioned to scroll past adverts meaning you need to ensure your content isn't just an obvious advertisement tool.

Creating content that feels engaging and authentic will encourage viewers to follow your brand. In the long run this will help your advertisement content as your followers are already invested in your brand even if they are yet to try the product or service.

In my next blog, I’m going to chat about what content you can create to engage your followers.
